Stitsworth Meats first opened in 1993 in a building that was originally a local grocery store in 1899. The father and Uncle of the current owner purchased the building to create an "old-fashioned meat market". They created their now very successful brat recipe and their popularity soared. They expanded their menu and their business. In 2010 the current owner, Mychal Stittsworth took over the business. In 2018 he opened the Stittsworth Smokehouse in Turtle River to serve retail and wholesale customers better. The Smokehouse is the main bulk manufacturing plant while the Meat Market in Bemidji still practices traditional buterching. Stitsworth Meats not only serves local communities but has become a nationwide brand.
